The “inaction” syndrome!
May 7, 2011Have you ever thought about the fact that was stops us from accomplishing things and fulfilling dreams in life is just our fear of taking an action? Hell yes. We have all the good purposes in the world (look at what we promise ourselves at the beginning of every year!) but how much of that we go through with? Almost nothing. And yes, that means we are full of shit.
We talk, talk, talk, but when it comes to taking actions and actually performing we back off and we wait for something to happen, something that supposedly is going to get some process started. Well guess what, nothing will happen unless we purposely do something (we won’t stop smoking if we keep buying cigarettes, we won’t lose weight if we don’t go to the gym, we won’t find new clients for our business if we don’t reach out to them, we won’t make our relationship better unless we commit to transform what is not working with them!).
And this might sound like obvious but it really isn’t. We consciously accept to live our life just partially and we settled for that because we don’t want to take risks. But here we are, living a life that say is good, and that really isn’t, and it’s our fault. I learned that we create the problems we have in life and therefore we can also create the solutions. Trying to convince ourselves that a certain problem is too big for us to solve is just BS! It probably needs more effort and we are too lazy to do so!
I have learned that you can never have enough time for others and that what we usually do, instead, is spending most of our time with ourselves, solving our issues, but never trying to make the difference for those who are around us and out there in general. I guess it’s time to give credit to those people who helped us become who we are today, any little contributions matter. And calling them and let them know what they mean to us and how grateful we are to have them in our life is the right thing to do. The next step is probably to listen to them and see if there is anything we can do to make their life better, without any interest in what comes for us from that action.
Last but not least…and this blog is called Valentina’s thoughts so it’s ok for me to throw random thoughts at who reads these pages…
I have a dream, that for whatever reason I keep pushing aside, and I did so for many many years. I am probably trying to diminish the importance that this dream has for me by keeping it away, but it keeps coming up and popping into my head; so much that I can’t ignore it. My dream is to write a book, I wanted this since when I was probably 7 years old. Well…isn’t 23 years enough time to contemplate this dream and actually fulfill it? I haven’t done so yet but I think it’s time for me to take action. My first step is to share this with people because I must figure out where to start and I am sure someone has that experience that can share with me. I have no clue where to start from and what to write about. I just love the writing and the sharing that comes with it. So, people out there, please hit me with your opinions, suggestions and advice!
I want an amazing life, let me go get it and live it! 100%!!!!!!
